Summer Programs

PROGRAM #1 "Rooted" Bible Study:

WHO: Any youth within the grades of 9-12. This is a program open for both homeschooled and public school aged youth.

WHAT: The Rooted Bible Study is a weekly program run by The Grunthal Drop Zone that allows the students to take in different Bible teachings. We aim to help the youth create a firm foundation to base their faith on as they grow up. Each session will focus on a specific topic with a Biblical backing, or focusing one a specific passage of the Bible.

WHERE: This program operates inside The Drop Zone building, at 160 Park Street, Grunthal.

WHEN: This program operates every Wednesday evening, from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

WHY: We want students and youth grow in their faith and become rooted in God's Word. We want to create a space where people can learn about who God is, build their own faith that is tangible and real, as well as to create a space where they are encouraged to live it out in their everyday lives. It is more than just learning, it's about lasting change and spiritual growth for all who get involved.

PROGRAM #2 "Kingdom Quest" Board Game Club:

WHO: Any youth within the grades of 9-12. This is a program open for both homeschooled and public school aged youth.

WHAT: The Board Game Club is a free after school / summer program ran by The Grunthal Drop Zone that allows all high school aged youth to come to our building for a few hours of playing board games with peers, and leaders. There will be a time for snacks, games and most importantly, a Biblical Lesson with each session.

WHERE: This program operates inside The Drop Zone building, at 160 Park Street, Grunthal.

WHEN: This program operates every Monday evening, from 7:00pm-9:00pm.

WHY:  The need for this program is to connect to a demographic of youth who have an interest in a shared hobby and interest, which would be playing board games. This is a demographic that is larger than what most people would realize, and as such, it is an area that we can meet the youth at. At a quick glance, the demographic of people who enjoy this hobby are those who have a hard time “fitting in” with other demographics of peers their age. Board gaming is viewed as unique, and slightly “old fashioned”, and as such, youth who engage in this hobby don’t have a large community support or an option to have an outpouring of this hobby in a space that encourages it. The Drop Zone will provide that for them, all while having trained staff and volunteers present to ensure compliance, to help create a community of friends with the same hobby, to create a space of no bullying, shared joys, and a safe space to connect with friends, but more importantly, to make the program run on a Biblical Basis of showcasing the players how board gaming can lend to the Christian Life.

PROGRAM #3 "Imago Dei" Art Club:

WHO: Any youth within the grades of 9-12. This is a program open for both homeschooled and public school aged youth. Sign up is required via emailing Raechel K. at [email protected]

WHAT:  The Imago Dei Art Program is a 6 week program for high school students that meets weekly for 2 hour sessions. It will be run out of the original area of The Drop Zone building. Each session includes a devotional lesson, discussion, instruction in a specific art technique, and a hands on project connected to the week’s biblical theme. Students will learn foundational art skills while exploring Christian concepts such as creativity, identity, transformation, and purpose. The program is designed to encourage personal growth, self expression, and faith development through visual arts.

WHERE: This program operates inside The Drop Zone building, at 160 Park Street, Grunthal.

WHEN: This program operates every Wednesday afternoons, from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

WHY:   Some youth may have pent up emotions or the desire to create something without the materials, and this program would give them the opportunity to sort through that. There is also a large aspect of being connected to God, which we all need! This program will help youth to slow down and stop and really sit with their thoughts, their ideas, their passions, and their Creator.

PROGRAM #4 "Eat, Learn, Grow" Kitchen & Cooking Club:

WHO: Any youth within the grades of 9-12. This is a program open for both homeschooled and public school aged youth. Sign up is required via emailing Jennifer at [email protected].

WHAT: This Program is all about real-life cooking skills. Youth will learn how to prepare easy, budget-friendly meals, understand basic kitchen techniques, and gain the confidence to cook for themselves. Every week ends with sharing a meal together, building independence, community, and a sense of responsibility for everyday life.

WHERE: This program operates inside The Drop Zone building, at 160 Park Street, Grunthal.

WHEN: This program operates every Tuesday afternoons, from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

WHY: This program meets the need for both practical life skills and spiritual mentorship among youth. Many young people are entering adulthood without confidence in basic cooking, meal planning, teamwork, or responsibility in the kitchen. This program creates a safe and supportive environment where youth can learn affordable and healthy cooking skills that will help them in everyday life.
It also meets the need for community, belonging, and spiritual growth. Through shared meals, teamwork, and Bible-based discussions, youth are encouraged to build healthy relationships, grow in their faith, and understand how Biblical principles can be applied to daily living.

PROGRAM #5 "Drop-In" Nights

WHO: Any youth within the grades of 9-12. This is a program open for both homeschooled and public school aged youth.
WHAT:  The Drop-In Program is a bi-weekly program run by The Grunthal Drop Zone that allows all youth in High School to hang out, and have a safe space to be at in the evenings once school is done. It is a free program, with no sign up required. We incorporate one-on-one conversations, a canteen, a safe building to be at with no adults (aside from trained staff and volunteers), and a free environment to relax in, with numerous games, video games, and resting areas.
WHERE: This program operates inside The Drop Zone building, at 160 Park Street, Grunthal.
WHEN: This program operates every Tuesday and Thursday evening, from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
WHY:  The Drop Zone provides a welcoming and secure environment for youth in Grunthal who may not feel safe or supported in their current home situations, or who simply need a positive place to spend their evenings. By offering a free and supervised space staffed by trained and trusted volunteers and team members, we are able to provide mentorship, accountability, and community connection during hours when youth are statistically more vulnerable to negative influences, risky behavior, or illegal activity. Rather than being left without structure or support, youth are given the opportunity to engage in healthy relationships, recreational activities, and personal growth in a safe and encouraging environment.
